About Us

Kathie Zodrow and Mike Warner wanted to start a charter school in 1998.  They began working on securing a charter school grant from the state of Oregon.  In 1999, they brought in Kathleen Browne and Allii Gilligan, and then the four of them brought in Dan Sporrer and Kim DeCosta.  The six worked on the charter grant proposal for about a year, and as parts of the proposal were granted and money came in, Kathie became the first employee at the end of 1999.  Mike, Dan and Allii joined the staff in the summer of 2000. ATI opened its doors on August 28, 2000 with 18 kids in attendance, and four teachers.

The school has grown since then. We have added more students and teachers. The way the classes are structured is to make it possible for the students to have more one on one time with the teachers if needed. We now have 10 teachers and 120 students.
