Good morning Armadillos and ATI families,
We are nearing the end of Term 2 (last day of classes is Jan 28), and so we are looking ahead to Term 3. As you may have heard in the news recently, the county COVID-19 health metrics set by the Governor's office that are used to help decide if it's safe to open businesses and schools have been updated and are now advisory. That means that each school district or charter school needs to make the local decision about when to bring students back to campus safely. Our staff team has been listening to you about your hopes and concerns, considering the academic needs of our students hoping to graduate or significantly catch up on credits, and looking at the capacity of our facilities and small staff team. With a staff team of just 6 teachers we realize that if we brought everyone to campus every other day and even one teacher got sick we would have to change back and forth from distance learning to campus learning and that would be really confusing and disruptive. We have heard clearly from you all year that having consistent and predictable plans is really important to you and we want to honor that. After careful consideration ATI will be making just a couple of changes to the way classes will work for Term 3.
Things that are STAYING THE SAME:
541-535-3287 so that we can connect you with our new nurse, Melissa. Melissa will be on campus for all Anchor Days to meet students and introduce all of the services she can provide, and is also available on Tues or Wed by appointment for the time being. She will have a dedicated phone line as soon as the clinic opens.
We are so excited to bring students to campus more in Term 3 and still maintain limited exposure risk for our students and our small staff team. We sure miss seeing your faces on campus and hope that all students who are able will take advantage of every opportunity to join us for some in-person learning.
Stay safe out there Armadillos,
ATI Staff

After careful consideration ATI will be making just a couple of changes to the way classes will work for Term 3.
Things that are STAYING THE SAME:
- Classes will mostly (*see ANCHOR DAYS below) be taught and attended virtually on Tue/Thurs and completed by students asynchronously on Wed/Fri. This is just the way we are operating now.
- Students still need to “attend” class every day" by participating in the Google Meet classes (Tu/Th) and completing work or connecting with their teachers (Wed/Fri).
- Teachers may arrange on-campus lessons for small groups of students as needed to provide additional hands-on experiences or support.
- Teachers will still provide office hours on asynchronous days (Wed/Fri) to support students as they complete work posted in Google Classroom.
- FREE Bag lunch and breakfasts are still available for ATI students every day M-F 11:15-12:15 at Phoenix Elementary, Talent Elementary, or Orchard Hills Elementary.
- All ATI students are welcome to work on campus at ATI Café Tues-Fri 10:00am-4:30pm (class hours) to use our internet/computers, do laundry, grab some snacks/lunch, or meet with our counselor Billy. Teachers are not available to help with class content at the Café, this is just a quiet and comfy place to work. Once students leave campus they may not return the same day so we will deliver a FREE school lunch for all students on site.
- To help our students who are trying to graduate or quickly catch up on credit we are adding to our daily schedule to provide all of the classes and credits Armadillos need.
- To make space for all the classes our students need each class is shorter. So there are more classes each day, but each class is now 65 minutes instead of 90 minutes. The new daily schedule will be:
- PERIOD 1: 8:25-9:30 - ENTIRELY ASYNCHRONOUS CLASS - NO LIVE CLASSES AFTER WEEK 1
- Period 2: 9:30-10:35 (Synchronous Google Meet T/Th, Asynchronous work in Google Classroom W/F)
- Period 3: 10:35-11:40 (Synchronous Google Meet T/Th, Asynchronous work in Google Classroom W/F)
- LUNCH 11:40-12:25
- TEAM: 12:25-1:25 Offered synchronously with Google Meet every day, Students must attend through Google Meet T/Th
- Period 4: 1:25-2:30 (Synchronous Google Meet T/Th, Asynchronous work in Google Classroom W/F)
- Period 5: 2:30-3:35 (Synchronous Google Meet T/Th, Asynchronous work in Google Classroom W/F)
- Period 6: 3:35-4:45 (Synchronous Google Meet T/Th, Asynchronous work in Google Classroom W/F)
- Students will be assigned to attend either Tuesday or Wednesday Anchor Days to make sure we have enough space for everyone. Students will be asked in team if they have any required activities that would conflict with either day.
- All students and staff on campus must follow all safety protocols required by the Oregon Department of Education and Oregon Health Authority. These include wearing a mask that covers nose and mouth, maintaining 6ft physical distance between people, hand washing and sanitizing, and cleaning work stations and materials between classes. Students and families will receive more direction about safety practices that we will use on campus as we get closer to our first Anchor Day.
- Students who cannot attend classes due to medical concerns (experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, has a recent exposure, is a high risk population), will participate in Anchor Days through distance learning.
- ANCHOR Days will happen Feb 16 & 17, March 9 & 10, March 30 & 31.

Melissa will be on campus for all Anchor Days to meet students and introduce all of the services she can provide, and is also available on Tues or Wed by appointment for the time being.
