Interior of a large empty room with drywall removed from two walls
If you swing past the Armadillo campus these days you will see construction fences up and walls coming down. Thanks to funding through the Elementary and Secondary School Recovery Fund and American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) we have been able to begin Phase 2 of our Building For Belonging and Brains facility renovations. Senator Jeff Golden helped us secure $1.3 million through ARPA to kick off this project, and while it's messy right now and we will have to adapt for a while, we are so excited about the benefits our students, staff and families will see in the Fall.

We will have four updated and purpose built classrooms in Building 1, including a teaching kitchen. In Building 3 we will have a new main entry on 1st street, office and conference space for administration and community partners, a vastly improved student resource center (thank you Carpenter Foundation) with free clothing, laundry, hygiene and home supplies, an exam and therapy rooms to house our LaClinca partners, and improved access and air quality throughout. Thanks to the hard work of the Ausland Group we are on track to move back in at the start of November for term 2.

This is such an exciting time for our Armadillo family, and we want to make sure we share this process with our community. We look forward to inviting everyone to an open house when this phase is completed, but in the mean time you can catch a glimpse behind the scenes with Summer on our YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/cP6u0hB9mxE
